I've visited Bagan in Burma with my friend as backpacker a few month ago. This is my first trip to Burma / Myanmar, and the first trip to another country. I am an Indonesian and I got free visa for two weeks in Burma if i want.
So, on this post, i will share about my story enjoying burma. I will share itenary, cost and recomendation place that you can visit during trip in Myanmar / Burma. Are you ready for another long story on my blog? Here we go!

I got Airasia ticket from Surabaya (Indonesia) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) then to Yangon (Burma). Im not sure how much the nominal on Kyaat (Myanmar currency). I need to pay about U$ 30 from Kuala Lumpur to Yangon. Expensive? No!
When you are in Yangon Airport and want to go to the city, you need to take a taxi dont see any public transportation there such as a bus, or train. You only can use taxi to leave the airport. The first thing you need before leave the airport is change your money into Kyaat. The best money exchange rate is in the airport.
You will get offer from many taxi in front of the airport, i have suggestion to you if you are looking for a taxi. Because it takes about 40 - 60 minutes from airport to the Yangon City.
#Tips : Ask into taxi counter to know how much you need to pay to the taxi for drive into Yangon City. Make sure you got the best price if any people offering you a ride to Yangon. At least below the taxi counter in airport.
#YouNeedToKnow : Not all driver can speak english, make sure that you got driver that can speak english. So you can ask many question to him. It will help you choose destination in Yangon.
I go with my friends and get the taxi about 70.000 Kyaat for halfday trip. 70.000 for one taxi and split for 7 people. 10.000 Kyaat for each other. If you need to go to Yangon, i think it just take about 5000 - 7000 Kyaat from the airport. But, im not sure about it.
Im heading to Bagan in 7pm using JJ Bus Express, so before it, i can sightseeing in Yangon for a halfday. I will write later
Shwedagon Pagoda is a Must Visited Place in Yangon

Shwedagon Pagoda is the most popular and interesting place that you must to visit in Yangon. The Shwedagon Pagoda, officially named Shwedagon Zedi Daw and also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda, is a gilded stupa located in Yangon, Myanmar.
Shwedagon Pagoda open at 04.00 AM till 10 PM. You need to pay about $8 for enterance fee. And for the dressscode, you need to follow this
- Wear trousers or at least knee length shorts or skirt;
- T-shirts with elbow length sleeves are also expected and you are expected to be barefooted when entering Shwedagon Pagoda.
If you are unsure as to the correct dress code, just err on the side of conservative dress and no-one will be offended.
Im to tired when visit Shwedagon Pagoda, so I decided to just come and rest under the tree in front of the pagoda gate. I can't sleep last night on the KLIA, I arrive at 00.00 and have to flight to Myanmar about 06.00.
Get Souvenirs on Bogyoke Aung San Market

Since i just about halfday in Yangon, i just visited some place. Bogyoke Aung San Market is the second place that i will reccomend to you. A market where you can get souvenir such as post card, longyi (traditional fabric that used by people in myanmar), T-shirt and another souvenirs item that related to Myanmar.

Be careful with people who following you, because my driver said there are many scams there. So you need to be carefull. Beyond that, various souvenirs here really cheap, you can get good t-shirts only $2.5 .
You need to make a bid to get cheapest price. If you dont make a bid, you can get expensive price, because we are foreginer tourist.
I think you must visited two place above when visit Yangon. Sorry i dont have any recomendation place that you have to visit because i just transit halfday in Yangon. I have to go Bagan at night with JJ Bus Express. I will write later about the story.
