I like the PDF file format, almost every task I have collected in the form of a PDF. This format I choose to avoid disruptions when the document is opened using different applications that I use. Although its nature can not be edited anymore, but in this article I want to share a piece of software for manipulating PDF files that can be used free of charge on linux. In this case I use the free application on the Ubuntu operating system.

Application for modification of PDF files is named PDFChain. Actually PDFChain is a GUI (Graphic User Interface) of pdftk (PDF Toolkit) a software that can be accessed using the commands in the terminal. With the GUI is to facilitate the use of pdftk, especially for those who are not accustomed to using the command line.

PDFCHain Features

  • Add a background or watermark on each page
  • Add various files into a document

  • A wide variety of other tools like
    • Extract the attached document
    • Uncompress and compress
