Blender is open source software. But, Blender is Best Software Update category by 3D World Magazine version. Many community members in the world really influenced the developing of open source software that reach 2.64 beta version. Even in Indonesia there are many people start using this software. It proven by many communities that appears in some region in Indonesia.

I start using blender at 2009, although sometime vacum but until now I still Blender user. Many people ask me, why I use Blender? Although Blender user is identified as minor. When in vocational high school there were only 2 students in my class who used Blender.

From some software that I’ve tried, my choice is only Blender. Blender is software that make me comfort in using it. This is some reason why I use Blender that have subjective characteristic. Every people have their own impression in using software. Let’s check why I still use Blender.

Friendly user interface. We can custom the user interface freely as we want. Although 5 layout template of user interface already exist, but each of them have their own function. But, sometime I need additional layout for costumed.

Shortcut is very helpful for working, especially for the functions that most used. If we know it very well, it can make the production process faster. I’m not need select menus that spent several seconds, if many instructions should be done, how many times that spent for click menu navigation?

Custom shorcut available in Blender, so you can set up your shortcut. For mouse selection you can set with right click or left click. Feel free to choose :D

Support from Blender community is really good. It makes me learn Blender easier. There are some tips asking technique problem in community. Freedom of user is the one I liked. I’m as Blender user can modify the existing file freely, even if it’s not suitable with the splash screen or other menu we can change it as we want. We free also to decide the OS that used by Blender, not limited in one OS. Available for OS desktop, or maybe someday for mobile :D. Beside of that, it free from license payment.

Fast software developing, sometime in hours we can get the newest update from Blender at graphicall.org that include the experimental features. So that we can take a part as a tester and contribute by reporting bug’s (if any). Even, after it released if we find the fatal bug’s it will be updated. Like in Blender 2.64 that released some time ago, it updated around 1-2 weeks and formed as Blender 2.64a.

Portable Blender application less than 60 Mb so can bring everywhere easily. So, if we work in deadline and our computer have problem, we can bring and do our job at internet lounge without admin access for installation. Blender installation file is less than 50Mb. For the one who have fine connection, they are not need to download if want to get the updated.

Blender also can use for video editing. Video editing in Blender is enough good for me. There’s also game engine that used for Digital Piano Application named Piandu that I ever made using Blender.

Hardware for Blender running is low end, your old computer is enough to playing Blender. Sustain the hardware capacity with our need. This is the recommended hardware that suggested by Blender Foundation.
