[SOLVED] Blender User Preferences Crash on Windows - Many people that using windows maybe have the same problem with my friends. Why my Blender crash when open user preferences using File > User Preferences or with the shortcut Ctrl + Alt + U? My friend +Adhi Hargo say to me that problem not only for the user preferences but for all new window on Blender. It happend because intel vga driver. Just change the vga driver that you get from buying the hardware (not update from intel website). He just found this problem in intel VGA.

I have solution for open your user preferences if your Blender crash when open from file menu. After open Blender, you will get default Blender interface, then just change the window type like the image below, so you will get your user preferences. It not open user preferences in new window, but it open user preferences in the window that use for 3D view before. So, your Blender is not crash ;)

Group and Ungroup on Blender ~ Have you ever using link system on Blender? To get it simple you should make a group for many object in a blend file, such as Mesh, Armature, Material, etc. If you make it in a group you just need to call the group name to link the  all object in a group. It's simple than you link every object from a group. I will try to post how to create a group of object and ungroup a object.

There are many way to create a object group, but the way that i likes is using shortcut Ctrl + G. Before use the shortcut, you need to select all object that you want to add it in a group. If the object is joined in a group, the outline color of object will change to green. Dont forget to adding name in a group, it will help you when organize the object.

Ungroup the Object
Ungroup use to eliminate object from the group, so we can cancel object in a group. To ungroup object from group, i didn't find the shortcut yet. So i am using object data to ungroup the object. Just remove the group name from object data, your object will remove from the group. If you still confuse how to ungroup the object, check the picture below.

If you know the shortcut to remove an object from the group, please notify me. Because i have search on blender search and google i didn't find the shortcut yet. I hope this Blender Tips and Trick helpful.

I want to share a tips how to create a hide animation. In Blender 2.4x i can hide an object with layer animation, but since 2.5x i can't find that feature. There are some alternative, like you move the object on the place that can't reach by the camera, or just hide it from camera.

I choose to hide the object from camera render, so you don't need to throwing object, you just need to insert keyframe into camera parameter in outline.

Almost all parameters can be filled in Blender panel keyframe,, this facility that we can use to create animations disappear in an instant. That we need to make animations like this are the properties window, the window where the available parameter to hide and unhide.

For example in the first frame I want a cube looks at the camera, while in the second frame I want cube disappeared. At frame 1, I activate the camera view and press I, the camera automatically turns yellow as in the picture below.

Then I go to frame two, disable the camera and do not forget to insert a keyframe again, so you get yellow color again.

After that, try render frame 1 and frame two. See the difference. This parameter will not fading process, ie frame of the camera on, and then frame 10 camera not active. Objects will be visible in the frame 1-9, New disappeared in frame 10.

With this post I want to share one of the features of Blender, i called drag and drop feature, a feature that is used to attach the file from windows explorer / nautilus to software. Actually, this feature has been around a long time, I first know from budip blog. But I was not successful to do it, I do not know why. But this time I've been able to use the feature.

With drag and drop. we will be easy to add a background image in Blender. We don't need to open properties first. Just click and drag the image into the 3D window, the picture will automatically turn into the background. To see it we should be in orthogonal / orthographic view (numpad 5).

It is also very useful for video editing, we simply drag and drop video files / audio / image, it will directly into  video / images and audio strip. Interesting is not it? For those who are still confused to immediately try on the latest Blender. Here's a video demo and a little explanation of drag and drop in Blender.

After delay for a long time, now i am finished my second Blender video tutorial. In this tutorial I am using Bahasa Indonesia language, but i think you can see what the keyboard that i've press and see the video. Make it silent if you confuse :D.

If your vga card is an optimus card, you will need to install bumblebee for the vga driver. Bumblebee Project have simple tutorial how to install it.
